Reception & Awards Ceremony
Sunday, May 13, 2 to 4 pm

Over $1,500 in cash and merchandise will be awarded. This is an all-media exhibition. Entry is open to all members and artists may join TVAA at time of entry. Every member may exhibit one piece of art so plan to participate. Deliver art on May 5th, 10 am to noon. A portion of art sales will benefit Medical City.

J U R O R
Barnaby Fitzgerald is a dedicated life-long artist, teacher, writer and lecturer. Born in New York City, he grew up in Italy and Ireland.

He received the degree of Magistero, Printmaking from the Istituto d’Arte Statale, Urbino, Italy in 1973. He has a BFA in Painting the Boston University School for the Arts, and an MFA in Painting-Printmaking from the Yale University School of Art.

He currently teaches Painting at SMU in Dallas, Texas and has studios in Dallas, Perugia, Italy and Lome, the Togolese Republic in Africa.

He is represented by Meredith Long and Co. in Houston and by the Valley House Gallery Dallas, Texas. Visit his web site at www.barnaba.com

Membership Exhibition 2011

64th Annual Membership Exhibition Held at Medical City
May 16 – 29th, 2011

Once again TVAA will host its annual membership show at Medical City Dallas.  Over $1500.00 in cash and merchandise awards will be presented at  the  reception to be held on May 29th. Works in all media are eligible and need to have been created within the last five years. Maximum size of 2D work is 48” x 48”, framed and wired for hanging. No work under glass except for pastels. No 2D work over 25 lbs. Sculpture must have its own base and stand. Limitations will be enforced.

Juror
Chapman Kelley is a nationally known artist who has exhibited in numerous major national group exhibitions. His work has been exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska. His work is in the collections of major artists and collectors such as the DeKoonings and the Hirshhorns, respectively. Chapman has lectured at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Yale School of Art and Architecture and Museum of Fine Art in Boston about his important “Wildflower Works”. He attended Hugh D. Pohl Art School and Trinity University in San Antonio and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.  He had a gallery in Dallas for a period of time and he was responsible for selections of work for a majority of collectors in Dallas. The Who’s Who In The South and Southwest awarded Kelley the Second Biennial Citation in Art. Works of two of his students were shown at a Venice Biennale. Chapman is an Honorary Lifetime Member of TVAA. His website is www.chapmankelley.com.

Signature Show 2011

Coming in March for Signature Members, TVAA has a lovely gallery for the Signature Show in March. The show will he at the Norwood Flynn Gallery located at 3318 Shorecrest Drive, Dallas, Texas 75235 overlooking Bachman Lake. The dates for the exhibition are May 27/28-June 11th, 2011.

To participate in this show you must be a TVAA signature member in good standing with dues paid for 2010 – 11. If you achieved a Signature with TVAA and are not sure you paid your dues please check with Sandra Freeman on your membership status.

Silvia Thornton our new Signature chairperson has scheduled a Signature Show for all paid Signature members at the Norwood Flynn Gallery on May 27 – June 11, 2011. All Signature members whose dues are current will be allowed to show their work in this exhibit.
