Black & Light (June)

June 1 – 30, 2017

Reception, Sunday June 4, 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Black & Light celebrates the beauty of darkness, light, and the contrasts they create. These universal opposites reveal each other’s beauty, such as the silhouettes and dramatic lighting in a photograph, the abstractions and illusions of light in a painted work, and even literal light manipulation in a three dimensional work. Artists are invited to submit work in any medium to explore and reveal the beauty of black, light, shadow, and luminosity through personal interpretation. The use of black in artwork is highly encouraged, though not required. The uses of LEDs and other physical sources of light in a piece are also welcome. All media welcome.

Please submit up to three entries (jpgs at 72 dpi and no longer than 1800 pixels on longest side) to Curator Kathleen Ramirez by MAY 21st @ thegemlord@yahoo.com Phone: 210-792-9870 Email: thegemlord@yahoo.com
