The Winter Show
December 2, 2013 – January 6, 2014
Reception: December 15, 2 pm – 4 pm
Entry Deadline, November 26
While winter may initially cause us to think of cold temperatures, snow, ice, stormy weather, and how the world looks during our coldest season of the year, it may also evoke memories, emotions, and thoughts of colors, foods, fashions, aromas, music, customs, traditions, and activities associated with the season. For this show, artists are invited to submit work that depicts “winter” in all its various aspects.

“13” and Other Superstitions
October 1 – 31, 2013
Reception: October 13, 2 pm – 4 pm
Entry Deadline, September 25
Superstitions are a part of every culture. We’ve heard that 13 is an unlucky number; Friday the 13th is an unlucky day; 7 is a lucky number; knocking on wood to ward off bad luck; carrying a rabbit’s foot for good luck; a black cat crossing your path brings bad luck; finding a four-leafed clover brings good luck; a pot of gold lies at the end of a rainbow; and many more. For this show, you are invited to submit work in any medium that expresses your interpretation of a common superstition.

Americana, Primitive, & Outsider Art
August 1 – 30, 2013
Reception August 4, 2-4 pm
Americana art: images that reflect the charm and nostalgia of America’s past.
Primitive art: art that is characterized by a childlike simplicity in its subject matter and technique, most often associated with the cultures of indigenous people.
Outsider art: works of extreme individuality by creators who are typically untrained artists. “Art Brut” – art “uncooked” by culture. An art at its most pure, most powerful, and most meaningful – an art produced entirely for individual satisfaction and inner need with no regard to exhibition, fame, or monetary reward.
For this show, you are invited to submit your own interpretation of one of more of these genres. All media accepted. Maximum size for 2 dimensional work – 48 inches on any side.
Please submit up to three entries (jpgs at 72 dpi and no longer than 1000 pixels on longest side) to Curator Duke Horn by July 26th.

What is beautiful? Beauty is defined as a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides perceptual experiences of pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.
