Holiday Party 2012


Please attend TVAA’s Christmas Party which will be held at my home on 12/14 from 6:30 pm to 8:00?

Please bring hor d’oeuvres, a side dish, or a dessert.

Bring your latest Artist Trading Cards to swap with others to keep a Christmas memory. If you have any with a Christmas theme even better.

Create a Christmas card that folks may purchase for $5.00, and the money will go toward the scholarship fund.

Holiday Bazaar (Dec)

TVAA Holiday Bazaar
December 3-28, 2012

Artists who are interested in participating in the Holiday Bazaar show should contact Jan Partin at jparti01@sbcglobal.net indicating their interest and including two or three jpgs of their work.  Each participating artist will have an area in the gallery, so space will be limited. Particular needs for this show include jewelry, pottery/ceramics (decorative and functional pieces), wearable pieces (scarves, shawls, etc.), and other artwork priced under $200. Please indicate your interest as soon as possible.

Collage, Printmaking, & Assemblage

Collage – a technique of art production where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different materials to make a new whole.
Printmaking – a process of creating artwork by various means of printing on paper or other surfaces.
Assemblage
– a process of making artistic compositions by putting together found objects.

Artists are invited to submit up to three entries in jpg format at 300 dpi and no longer than 1000 pixels on longest side. All types of collage, printmaking, and assemblage will be considered. This is an open show, curated by KeLaine Kvale. Entries are due October 20, 2012.

Show Details

  • October 8th, Deadline for entries by 5:00 p.m.
    Artists will be able to pay submission fees and membership fee online this year
  • October 15th, Artists Will be Notified by e-mail if they were/or were not accepted into this exhibit. Those who don’t have e-mail will be telephoned – be sure to include your
    phone number!
  • November 3rd, Artists will deliver their work to PFAMily Arts between the hours of 11 am to 12 Noon.
  • November 6th, Exhibit opens
  • November 24th, Reception at 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.
    Awards presented at 7:30 p.m.
  • December 14th, Exhibit closes
  • December 15th, Artists pick up work 11-12 Noon

TEXAS: Flora, Fuana & Cowboys (Oct)

The October TVAA Downtown Gallery exhibition is the second showing of TEXAS: Flora, Fauna & Cowboys; a three-part, three-category show, organized by Diana Moya of Frisco.

This is a digital entry, small format, juried, all media exhibition, with an option to travel.
Max. size, 16″ x 20″.
Deadline August, 10, 2012.
Entry, $30 (per category.)
Travel is for jury selected work only, for an additional fee.

Three categories: Texas flora, Texas fauna, and Texas cowboys
You may submit up to three works in each category.
Each category requires a separate entry fee and form.

Three venues
1) Best entries in each category will be exhibited in a Show & Sale at SoDeVis Gallery in Frisco, TX, September, 2012, then…
2) for an additional fee, best entries are invited to exhibit at the TVAA Downtown Gallery, October, 2012, and…
3) at the Museum of the Americas in Doral, FL, November, 2012.

Portraits and self- portraits have always been significant artistic genres. For this exhibition, artists are invited to submit up to three jpgs of their finest portrait or self-portrait work. (Self-portraits or portraits shown in previous gallery shows are not eligible). Work in all mediums is encouraged.

Upstanders Quest Exhibit (Aug)

Student Artwork Show:
Illustrations by students of an upcoming graphic novel, Upstanders Quest: True Stories of Survivors of Slavery.

View art by students from George Bannerman Dealey, the DFW area, and art by ESL students in the San Diego Unified School District. A panel of judges will decide whose work will appear in the graphic novel, Upstanders Quest.
