With the end of a decade and the start of a new year, this exhibition: DALLAS Our Iconic City encourages artists to look back, through the decade, and create their work from a Dallas-related, iconic moment that has personally affected them in a positive way. Let’s celebrate our city!
Submission Deadline: Friday, February 21st at midnight.
Acceptance Notification: Monday, February 24th by midnight.
Deliver artwork: Saturday, February 29th, from 10am-2pm
Exhibit Open to the Public: March 2nd – April 3rd, during Gallery business hours; Tuesday – Friday 10am – 4pm, and Saturdays 10am-2pm.
Reception: Saturday, March 7th, 2-4pm, Awards at Approximately 3:00
Pick up artwork: Saturday, April 4th, 10am-2pm. All artwork left after this day will accrue a $5 per day storage fee.
CURATOR: Frankie Garcia III
ABOUT THE CURATOR: Frankie Garcia III is an artist, curator, and advisor for local Dallas artists. He is a self-taught artist, raised in the Oak Cliff district of Dallas, TX. His painting style can be described as abstract constructivism, and Frankie embraces a variety of mixed-media compositions and incorporates an array of paints and niches within his art. Frankie founded FGIII Fine Art Productions in 1998, as an umbrella organization dedicated to establishing unity within the Dallas arts as well as instilling purpose and vision into the work of the individual artist.
ELIGIBILITY: This show is open to TVAA members and non-members with ribbons being awarded to Best of Show, 1st, 2nd 3rd place, and honorable mention. Cash awards for Best in Show and 1st place! Open to 3D and 2D works. 2D paintings is limited to 48” on any one side and a maximum of 25 lbs. Extra-large paintings and sculptures will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and the artist may be asked to bring their own display easel or pedestal.
REQUIREMENTS: All 2D artwork must be wired and framed correctly. Please wire your painting in the top ¼ of the painting. Wiring too close to the center of the frame will cause hanging issues and may not be hung, at the Curator and Gallery Director’s discretion. No ½” or ¾” canvases will be curated without a frame. Gallery wrapped work must have clean and painted edges and no staples showing. Work that does not follow gallery requirements will not be hung. Please label your artwork with your name and the title of your piece. If invited to the exhibition you must sign up for one sitting day during the month. This is a great time to experience gallery operations, greet guests and discuss the show and the artwork. If you cannot sit, you will need to pay a $35.00 sitting fee for someone to cover your day. Any work not picked up on take down day with be stored for a $5.00 a day fee and then considered abandoned after 30 days. Any artwork sold pays a 25% fee to the TVAA. All artwork must have been created in the last 3 years, and have not previously won an award from the TVAA Gallery.
Fees must be paid at the time of submission via the online form. $35.00 for up to 3 images for Members and $45.00 for up to 3 images for Non-Members. Only one of the three submissions may be a diptych or triptych set – must be visually obvious and will be judged as a set. Please submit entries jpgs at 72 dpi and no longer than 1800 pixels on longest side. You must include your name, your e-mail address, the name of the piece, the size, medium of the work, and the selling price within the form.

LIABILITY: Entering this exhibition constitutes an agreement to release the Texas Visual Arts Association, the TVAA Gallery, and the Plaza of the Americas from any liability for loss or damage to works of art in this exhibition. TVAA, the Gallery, or the Plaza of the Americas reserves the right to remove any work that is deemed objectionable for any reason.
PARKING: For delivery and pick up, you can park in the garage for $1.50 for each twenty (20) minute interval (free parking vouchers are provided for delivery or pick-up, and for all-day gallery sitters). The entrance to the parking garage is on San Jacinto – between Pearl and Crockett. Metered parking is available on Pearl and Crockett Streets. Parking in lots on Crockett and San Jacinto is $6.00. DO NOT park in the permit-only zones behind the building on Crockett Street.
