“Green” TVAA Gallery Art Exhibition for April 2018
GREEN, how do you interpret this word? Is this a color, the beginning of life, the season of spring, green living, recycling, repurposing, or the Tree of Life? This is an invitation to explore the meaning that connects with you and your art work, and then share it with others. This is open to members and non-members of TVAA (Texas Visual Artists Association) with ribbons being awarded to Best of Show, 1st, 2nd 3rd place, and honorable mention.
All artwork framed must be wired and framed correctly. No ½” canvases will be curated without a frame. Gallery wrapped work must have clean edges and no staples showing. Work that does not follow gallery requirements will not be hung. If invited to the exhibition you must sign up for one sitting day during the month or pay a $25.00 sitting fee for someone to cover your day. Any work not picked up on take down day with be stored for a $5.00 a day fee and then considered abandoned after 30 days. Any artwork sold pays a 25% fee to the TVAA.

About the Curator: Maegan Kirschner and Shawn Storer
Maegan Kirschner – She is the new Gallery Director for the TVAA Gallery in the Plaza of the Americas building. She is currently an art teacher to the homeschool community and a freelance artist in the Dallas area as well. She is an American and Art History Scholar with a focus on women artists. She is an award winning artist with her unique mixed media pieces that have a running theme of circles and recycled items. In 2017 she participated in 17 exhibitions winning several awards.
Shawn Storer – He holds a doctor of musical arts degree in conducting, Shawn has performed with numerous symphony orchestras, opera companies, and musical theatre groups, on some of the world’s greatest stages including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Meyerson, the Meyerhoff, and Symphony Hall, to name a few. He actively pursues multiple simultaneous creative outlets including pottery, sculpture, sketching, drawing, and painting and has been a featured artist in exhibitions and shows including, RAW Dallas, Chocolate and Art – Los Angeles’ Famous Underground Art Show, and the Dallas Craft Guild’s Spring and Fall Shows.
Requirements: Fees must be paid at the time of submission via the online form. $30.00 for up to 3 images for Members and $45.00 for up to 3 images for Non-Members. Please submit entries jpgs at 72 dpi and no longer than 1800 pixels on longest side. You must include your name, your e-mail address, the name of the piece, the size, medium of the work, and the selling price.
Submission Deadline for JPG’s: Fri, March 9th at 5pm
Acceptance Notification: Fri, March 16th
Deliver artwork: Sat, March 31st 10am – 2pm
Exhibit Open to the Public: April 2nd– May4th (Monday – Friday 10 am – 4 pm)
Reception: Sat, April 14th 2 – 4pm
Pick up artwork: Sat, May 5th 10 am – 2 pm
This show is open to TVAA members and non-members.
Entering this exhibition constitutes an agreement to release the Texas Visual Arts Association, the TVAA Gallery, and the Plaza of the Americas from any liability for loss or damage to works of art in this exhibition. TVAA, the Gallery, or the Plaza of the Americas reserves the right to remove any work that is deemed objectionable for any reason.
For delivery and pick up, you can park in the garage for $1.50 for each twenty (20) minute interval (vouchers are provided for delivery or pick-up). Metered parking is available on Pearl and Crockett Streets. Parking in lots on Crockett and San Jacinto is $6.00. DO NOT park in the permit-only zones behind the building on Crockett Street. Full-day Gallery sitters may park free in the garage (entrance on San Jacinto – between Pearl and Crockett).
